TextFX includes Simile (creative comparisons), Explode (phonetic deconstruction), Unexpect (surprising scene twists), Chain (semantic word linking), POV (multi-perspective analysis), Alliteration (letter-specific word curation), Acronym (word-based acronym creation), Fuse (concept intersection), Scene (sensory detail generation), and Unfold (word-slot exploration).

TextFX was originally built on Google's PaLM 2 large language model and has since been updated to run on the Gemini API through Google AI Studio. The underlying prompts for each tool are visible through the Look Under the Hood feature.

The temperature slider controls how creative or unpredictable the AI outputs are. A lower temperature produces more conventional and expected results, while a higher setting generates wilder, more experimental language suggestions. This gives users precise control over output randomness.
